Designed to be fuel-efficient
They’re big on mpg. They’re big on fuel efficiency.* We’re talking about the lineup of 2014 Fusion models. The Fusion Hybrid and the Fusion Energi Plug-In Hybrid are each powered by a combination electric motor and gas-sipping 2.0L Atkinson-cycle I-4 gasoline engine, and both feature the SmartGauge® with EcoGuide that provides information to help you drive more efficiently. The available 1.6L and 1.5L I-4 EcoBoost® engines are designed to be fuel-efficient without compromising on power. The 1.6L EcoBoost engine comes with a manual transmission. The 1.5L EcoBoost engine comes with a six-speed automatic transmission. And to help you drive more efficiently, we offer several easy tips. The lineup of 2014 Fusion models. They’re all about efficiency
The Fusion Hybrid is all about efficiency. Its 2.0L I-4 Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine delivers 188 net horsepower and an impressive hybrid performance. At speeds up to 85 mph, it can travel in electric mode. The Fusion Hybrid also features visual aids to help you drive more efficiently. The next-generation SmartGauge® with EcoGuide uses screens on either side of the center-mounted speedometer. Informative screens such as Brake Coach help you maximize your vehicle’s efficiency. Other displays include Inform, Enlighten, Engage or Empower, and explain your options within each mode. The display grows leaves as your short-term driving efficiency increases. As your long-term driving becomes more efficient, vines and more leaves are displayed. You can track the powertrain’s operation – hybrid drive, electric drive, gas engine plus instant and average fuel economy.
Active Park Assist

While you’re driving slowly near parallel parking spots, simply activate available active park assist* and it looks for an available parking spot. Ultrasonic sensors measure the distance to the curb and between parked cars. Once a spot that’s big enough is identified, you’re signaled to stop and accept the system’s assistance. All you do is control the shifting, accelerating and braking.
- *Driver assist features are supplemental and do not replace the driver’s judgment
Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS)
Electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) automatically adjusts to deliver precise feel and control at higher speeds, and the required assistance at slower speeds when needed. EPAS features drift control and active nibble control. Drift control technology detects road conditions – such as a crowned road surface or crosswinds – and adjusts the EPAS to compensate. The active nibble control feature uses the EPAS motor to reduce unwanted vibrations in the steering wheel. The result is a comfortable driving experience and responsive steering.
Six-Speed SelectShift® Automatic With Paddle Shifters
You don’t have to know how to drive a manual transmission or learn how to master a clutch to enjoy the sporty feel of shifting gears. Using race-inspired technology, the available steering wheel-mounted paddles provide an engaged driving experience by letting you easily and quickly go from gear to gear without taking your hands off the steering wheel.
Ambient Lighting
Set the mood with ambient lighting in the Titanium. You can choose from seven colors – Ice Blue,® orange, soft blue, red, green, blue or purple – to illuminate the front and rear footwells, front center console bin and door handle pockets. You can also enhance the interior illumination with LED interior lamps. Noncustomizable red LEDs are also used in the door lock indicators in all the Fusion models.
Environmentally Conscious Seating
The standard cloth seats in the Fusion Hybrid feature a fabric made with REPREVE®— a fiber using 100% recyclable materials that could potentially have otherwise ended up in landfills. In addition, the seat cushions and head restraints use a bio-based polyurethane foam derived from the oils of various plant seeds, such as soybeans.
